Jae Sook Koh draws inspiration for her applique quilts from historical sources and her surroundings, which puts her in good company with many quilters past and present. For Koh, who lives near Seoul, South Korea, those influences include Buddhist symbols, fish ponds in palace gardens and centuries-old Korean folk art, which she combined with exquisite handwork to make
