2009 Manos Negras Pinot Noir

Real winemakers get their hands dirty. Hands black with wine. That what Manos Negras is all about. Rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty. That's how we make these hand-crafted wines. pWe strive to achieve a terroir-drive Pinot Noir from Patagonia, a wine with floral aromas, ripe red fruit flavors and a soft, supple texture. Light to medium cherry red color cinnamon, clove, strawberry, and cherry aromas and flavors.p Manos Negras focuses on latitude winemaking. Argentina and Chile's winemaking regions stretch 1,500 miles north to south along the Andes. Each latitude possesses a unique terroir with singular combinations of soil and temperature which are ideally suited for different varietals. Manos Negras uses the unique skills of three immigrants to Argentina-New Zealand winemakers Duncan Killiner and Jason Mabbett, and American wine educator Jeff Mausbach- as well as the renown Argentine viticulturist Alejandro Sejanovich to craft wines based on exciting terroir-var.

2007 Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Firm, intense and vibrant, displaying a tight beam of wild berry and raspberry fruit shaded by floral rose petal scents. A mineral edge and a hint of vanilla-laced oak mark the finish. Drink now through 2017.

Pinot Noir

- One of France's most legendary grapes and the grape that earned Burgundy its reputation. The parent of varietals like Pinot Gris/Grigio and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir is blue to violet to indigo in color with relatively thin skins, and it is said to have been cultivated in France for more than 2,000 years. At its best, Pinot Noir creates elegant wines that are filled with primary red fruit aromas and flavors while young, revealing with an array of secondary characteristics like earth, smoke, violet, truffle and game with age. The varietal is also known, perhaps better than any, for its ability to translate terroir, or a sense of place. While the best Pinot Noir still comes from Burgundy, it is being produced with increasing success in cooler climates around the world. In France, it is part of the trifecta of grapes that can go into Champagne, and it is also grown in Alsace, Irancy, Jura, Savoie, Lorraine and Sancerre. Outside of France it is produced under the names Pinot Nero and Blauburgunder in Italy's mountainous regions, as Spätburgunder in Germany and as Blauburgunder in Austria. In the US, Pinot Noir has found suitable growing conditions in the cooler parts of California, including Carneros, the Russian River Valley, the Anderson Valley, the Sonoma Coast, Monterey County, the Santa Lucia Highlands and Santa Barbara County, as well as in Oregon's Willamette Valley. In recent years, New Zealand has demonstrated its ability to interpret this hard-to-grow varietal, with successful bottlings coming from careful and attentive growers in Central Otago, Martinborough and Canterbury. Chile is also an up-and-coming region for Pinot Noir, creating fresh, fruit-forward, early-drinking and affordable Pinots from the coastal Casablanca Valley and the Limari Valley.

2010 Valley of the Moon Rosato di Sangiovese

DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL, BEST OF CLASS, 2011 CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR WINE COMP. A deep, pink wine, the full-flavored '10 Valley of the Moon Rosato di Sangiovese zings with wonderful, serious red fruit notes

The dark-berried Sangiovese vine is the most widely planted grape variety in
Italy. Virtually synonymous with the red wines of Tuscany, and all the romanticism that goes with the territory, Sangiovese is the core constituent in some of the great names in Italian wine. Italy¡¯s, and indeed the world¡¯s love affair with Sangiovese is generations old, though recent ampelographical evidence suggests the variety is not as ancient as it was once thought.

At the dawn of the 21st century, Sangiovese equated to roughly one in every ten vines on the Italian peninsula. The wine can be of notoriously variable quality, though in the 1980s drastically improved winemaking techniques saw a significant shift towards more quality-oriented releases. Sangiovese has numerous clones and is consequently known by many synonyms in its native Italy.

Good-quality Sangiovese is prized for its high acid, firm tannins and balanced nature. Savory flavors of dark cherries and black stone fruit are characteristic, and may be backed by secondary notes of tomato leaf and dried herbs. The use of oak has become more popular and this coaxes richer flavors from the grapes, tending toward plum and wild raspberry.
