2009 Castle Rock Columbia Valley Syrah

 

Castle Rock Syrah is produced from grapes grown on the beautiful south-facing vineyards in the prestigious Columbia Valley, which shares the same latitude as the Bordeaux region of France.

This wine is medium-bodied and deep ruby red in color. It is well balanced, ripe and spicy, and offers complex, concentrated flavors of dark ripe fruits, smoke and black pepper. The finish is long-lasting and harmonious with lingering spice nuances. It makes an ideal accompaniment to a variety of red meat dishes, pasta, or cheese, and it pairs well with most spicy food.

2009 La Joya Reserve Syrah

 

 

This classically styled Syrah is rich and full bodied with notes of blackberries, black cherries and blueberries. The subtle savory spices round out the ripe fruit. This is an excellent everyday value for Chilean wine fans.

Pairs well with pork, roasted meat, grilled vegetable or rack of lamb.

Region : Colchagua Valley, Chile

The grapes are 100% estate grown from the Bisquertt vineyards of Las Garzas, Chomedahue, Lihueimo, Rinconada, Casas Viejas, El Rulo, and Trinidad. Each vineyard has their own distinctive micro-climate contributing subtle nuances and complexity. The Colchagua Valley is heavily influenced by its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, resulting in cool nights and dry sunny days creating the optimal growing conditions. The soils are alluvial with excellent drainage. The wine is stainless steel fermented and a portion is barrel aged for 8-10 months in French and American oak. Then it is cold stabilized and filtered before bottling. After bottling, it is stored in the cellars three to four months before being released.

Head-trained and dry farmed vines continue to be the source for Bogle's Old Vine Zinfandel. These gnarly old vines produce concentrated fruit of unsurpassed quality and intensity. This full-bodied vintage shows itself with rich black raspberry notes that round out in the mouth, accompanied by the scents of summer fruit jam bubbling on the stove. Juniper berry and cinnamon stick join the spiciness of red and black peppercorns as they integrate with the supple fruit and lead toward the finish.
