I specialize in engaged, responsive teaching. Students coming to my classes should be prepared not just for supervision, but for mentorship. I encourage rigorous self-reflection as I help my students set and achieve tangible goals. Provided the right structure and guidance, every student is capable of surprising themselves. I reject the idea that some students are just lazy or unmotivated, as well as the myth of ¡°natural talent.¡± More importantly, how can we empower students to challenge themselves? For those students who rightfully feel that they are on track, what surprising new talents and interests can they discover with the right encouragement? I strive to guide each of my students toward realizing the joy of these questions.
