In 2010, a tsunami struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra, killing more than four hundred people. But the deaths could have been prevented or minimized had the tsunami warning system been working properly. The tsunami detection networks(buoys) had become detached and drifted away.
Jesus said His disciples had a responsibility to warn fellow disciples of things that could harm them spiritually—including unrepentant sin. He outlined a process in which a believer who’s been sinned against by another can humbly, privately, and prayerfully “point out” the sin to the offending believer (MATTHEW 18:15). If the person repents, then the conflict can be resolved and rela- tionship restored. If the believer refuses to repent, then “one or two others” can help resolve the conflict (V. 16). If the sinning person still doesn’t repent, then the issue is to be brought before “the church” (V. 17). If the offender still won’t repent, the indi- vidual is to be removed from assembly fellowship, but he or she can certainly still be prayed for and shown Christ’s love.
As believers in Jesus, let’s pray for the wisdom and courage we need to care enough to lovingly warn one another of the dangers of unrepentant sin and of the joys of restoration to our heavenly Father and other believers. 2010년 쓰나미가 인도네시아 수마트라 섬을 강타하여 400명이 넘게 사망했습니다. 그러나 쓰나미 경보 시스템이 제대로 작동됐다면 인명 피해를 막거나 최소화할 수 있었습니다. 쓰나미 감지 통신 체계였던 부표들이 떨어져 나가 멀리 떠내려가 버렸던 것입니다.
예수님은 주님을 따르는 제자들에게는 다른 제자들에게 회개하지 않는 죄뿐 아니라 영적으로 그들을 해롭게 하는 모든 잘못까지 알려주어야 할 책임이 있다고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 다른 사람의 죄로 피해를 입은 신자가 해야 할 일을 설명하시며, 먼저 겸손하게, 개인적으로, 그리고 기도하는 마음으로 그 죄를 범한 신자에게 “권고하라”고 하셨습니다(마태복음 18:15). 만일 그가 회개하면 갈등이 해결되고 관계가 회복될 수 있지만, 만일 그 신자가 회개하기를 거부하면 “한 두 다른 사람이” 갈등을 해결하는데 도움이 될 수 있습니다(16 절). 만일 죄를 지은 사람이 여전히 회개하지 않는다면 그 문제를 “교회”에 알려야 합니다(17절). 그래도 계속 회개하지 않는다면, 그 사람을 교회에서 제해 버려야 하지만 그를 위해 계속 기도해주고 예수님의 사랑을 보여주어야 합니다. 예수님을 믿는 신자로서, 우리가 회개하지 않는 죄의 위험성과, 우리 하나님 아버지와 다른 신자들과의 관계가 회복되는 기쁨에 대해 사랑으로 서로 말해줄 수 있는 지혜와 용기를 달라고 기도합시다. 그렇게 할 때 예수님은“[우리] 중에 계실 것입니다”(20절). |

How can you humbly and lovingly confront someone regarding a sin issue?
What are the dangers of unrepentant sin?
Dear God, help me to love others enough to lovingly warn them when I see them falling into sin.
15. "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
16. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'
17. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
18. "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19. "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

| | 죄의 문제가 있는 사람을 어떻게 겸손과 사랑으로 대할 수 있을까요?
회개하지 않는 죄의 위험에는 어떤 것들이 있을까요?
사랑하는 하나님, 죄에 빠져가는 사람들에게 사랑으로 말해줄 수 있는 그런 사랑을 제게 주소서.

16. 만일 듣지 않거든 한두 사람을 데리고 가서 두세 증인의 입으로 말마다 확증하게 하라
17. 만일 그들의 말도 듣지 않거든 교회에 말하고 교회의 말도 듣지 않거든 이방인과 세리와 같이 여기라
18. 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 무엇이든지 너희가 땅에서 매면 하늘에서도 매일 것이요 무엇이든지 땅에서 풀면 하늘에서도 풀리리라
19. 진실로 다시 너희에게 이르노니 너희 중의 두 사람이 땅에서 합심하여 무엇이든지 구하면 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 그들을 위하여 이루게 하시리라
20. 두세 사람이 내 이름으로 모인 곳에는 나도 그들 중에 있느니라 |
