Update: So we took "him" to a pet clinic and found about the following:

The cat we found is about 5 years old male cat that is neutered. It's microchipped but the owner didn't register so no info about the owner. Since PHS may not take him, if anyone who reads this message and is able to provide a furever home, please let me know. We have two cats and are not able to keep him.

We found this cat on S Orange Grove Blvd & Arlington Dr in Pasadena at about 7:15 PM on 3/22/2024. My kiddo found this cat, climbing a tree to escape a coyote. The coyote was near by, waiting for us to leave, and of course, my kiddo refused to budge to protect the cat. Somehow, the cat must have felt safe with us, allowing us to bring it home. Seems to be domesticated as shown by its being affectionate with us.

Called Pasadena Humane Society but was told that we should call back during office hours and make an appointment if we want to bring this cat there. We plan to take it to a vet in the morning to check whether it's microchipped. In the meantime, posting this message & a picture for the owner, who's desperately looking for this beautiful cat, to take it back home.
