[ ISAIAH 49:15 ]
“Uncle Arthur, do you remember the day you took me to the barbershop and the supermarket? I was wearing tan khakis, a blue-plaid oxford shirt, a navy-blue cardigan, brown socks, and brown Rockport shoes. The date was Thursday, October 20, 2016.” My nephew Jared’s autism-related challenges are offset by his phenomenal memory that can recall details like days and dates and the clothes he was wearing years after an event took place.
Because of the way he’s wired, Jared possesses the kind of memory that reminds me of the all-knowing, loving God—the Keeper of time and eternity. He knows the facts and won’t forget His promises or His people. Have you had moments when you’ve questioned whether or not you’ve been forgotten by God? When others appear to be healthier or happier or more successful or otherwise better off?
Ancient Israel’s less-than-ideal situation caused her to say, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me” (ISAIAH 49:14). But that wasn’t the case. God’s compassion and care exceeded the natural bonds of affection that mothers have for their children (V. 15). Before embracing labels like “forsaken” or “forgotten,” think again of what God has done in and through His Son, Jesus. “아서 삼촌, 저를 이발관과 슈퍼마켓에 데리고 갔던 날을 기억하세요? 그날 저는 황갈색 바지와 푸른 격자무늬 옥스퍼드 셔츠, 남색 카디건을 입고 갈색 양말과 갈색 락포트 신발을 신고 있었어요.
날짜는 2016년 10월 20일 목요일이었어요.” 몇 년이 지나도 입었던 옷과 날짜까지 자세히 기억하는 조카 제러드의 놀라운 기억력 때문에 그가 자폐증을 앓고 있다는 것을 잊곤 합니다.
자폐로 인한 제러드의 그런 기억력은 시간과 영원의 주관자이시며 모든 것을 아시는 사랑의 하나님을 생각하게 합니다. 하나님은 모든 사실을 아시고 자신이 한 약속과 자신의 백성들을 잊지 않으십니다. 하나님이 당신을 잊으신 건 아닌지 의문을 품은 적이 있습니까? 다른 사람들이 나보다 더 건강하고 더 행복하고 더 성공한 것처럼 보일 때나 그냥 더 나아 보일 때 그런 생각이 들지 않았는지요?
옛적에 이스라엘은 어려운 상황에 놓이자, “여호와께서 나를 버리시며 주께서 나를 잊으셨다”(이사야 49:14)고 했습니다. 그러나 그것은 사실이 아닙니다. 하나님의 연민과 돌보심은 어머니가 자녀를 향해 갖는 본능적인 사랑보다 훨씬 큽니다(15절). “버려졌다”거나 “잊혔다”라는 말을 하기 전에 하나님께서 그분의 아들 예수님 안에서, 예수님을 통해 하신 일이 어떤 것인지 다시 생각해 보십시오. 용서를 담은 복된 말씀으로 하나님은 분명히 말씀하셨습니다. “나는 너를 잊지 아니할 것이라”(15절). |

When have you felt alone, forsaken, and forgotten by God? How does processing the love of God expressed by sending Jesus to die for your sins help to counter feelings of being forgotten by Him?
Father, when I’m tempted to feel neglected, forgotten, and abandoned, help me to ponder again the love You demonstrated by sending Jesus to die for me.
14. But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me."
15. "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
16. See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands your walls are ever before me.
17. Your sons hasten back, and those who laid you waste depart from you.
18. Lift up your eyes and look around all your sons gather and come to you. As surely as I live," declares the LORD, "you will wear them all as ornaments you will put them on, like a bride. |
| | 외롭고, 버려지고, 하나님께 잊혔다고 느낀 때가 언제였습니까? 우리의 죄를 위해 예수님을 보내시고 죽게 하신 하나님의 사랑이 어떻게 하나님께 잊혔다는 생각을 버릴 수 있게 해줄까요?
하나님 아버지, 무시되고 잊혀지고 버림받은 것 같이 느껴질 때, 나를 위해 예수님을 보내어 죽게 하심으로 보여주신 그 사랑을 다시 생각할 수 있도록 도와주소서.
14. 오직 시온이 이르기를 여호와께서 나를 버리시며 주께서 나를 잊으셨다 하였거니와
15. 여인이 어찌 그 젖 먹는 자식을 잊겠으며 자기 태에서 난 아들을 긍휼히 여기지 않겠느냐 그들은 혹시 잊을지라도 나는 너를 잊지 아니할 것이라
16. 내가 너를 내 손바닥에 새겼고 너의 성벽이 항상 내 앞에 있나니
17. 네 자녀들은 빨리 걸으며 너를 헐며 너를 황폐하게 하던 자들은 너를 떠나가리라
18. 네 눈을 들어 사방을 보라 그들이 다 모여 네게로 오느니라 나 여호와가 이르노라 내가 나의 삶으로 맹세하노니 네가 반드시 그 모든 무리를 장식처럼 몸에 차며 그것을 띠기를 신부처럼 할 것이라 |
